South Manchester Psychologist
More About Me
I am an accredited eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. I have attended post-qualification training in mindfulness and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). My therapy work is also informed by cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) and I place emphasis on the importance of the therapeutic relationship. This is because, in order to optimise the potential benefits of therapy, I believe that clients need to experience feeling safe and valued and trust their therapist so that they can be as open as they feel able without fear of being judged.
Since I achieved my doctorate in clinical psychology (DClinPsy) from the University of Manchester in 2012, I have worked in the NHS and private practice with clients with a range of mental health problems. I have a particular interest in working with clients who are making the transition to parenthood and I have published research on the mental health of new mothers.
